Business Development Manager

Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct detailed market analysis to identify growth opportunities across UK regions.
- Liaise with senior staff to discuss new services.
- Assess competitor activity, pricing structures, and emerging logistics trends.
- Develop and implement structured business development strategies aligned with company objectives.
- Identify high-potential sectors including e-commerce, contract logistics, specialist freight, and relocation services.
- Recruit, onboard, and support the training of new staff and drivers.
- Identify and approach prospective clients, including major UK logistics providers and corporate organisations.
- Prepare and deliver professional service proposals and capability presentations.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with new and existing clients.
- Establish strategic alliances with freight forwarders, warehousing providers, and third-party logistics (3PL) companies.
- Align new contract acquisition with planned fleet expansion.
Key Skills and Experience Required
- Proven business development experience within the logistics, transport, or supply chain sector.
- Track record of securing direct contracts with corporate clients, 3PL providers, or national logistics operators.
- Strong negotiation and persuasion skills, with the ability to convert leads into long-term contracts.
- Market analysis and strategic planning capabilities, including competitor benchmarking.
- Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills to support operational and commercial alignment.
- Team working skills.
- Experience in sales pipeline management, revenue forecasting, and performance reporting.
